Role overview

The purpose of this role is to develop UK100’s network of over 100 local leaders, and their staff, who are committed to taking ambitious action to tackle air pollution and the Climate Emergency.


We are looking for an ambitious and energetic Network Membership Director to deploy political insight and use outstanding collaboration skills to develop UK100’s network and enable ambitious action from local leaders and their staff.


Key responsibilities

  • Lead UK100’s work that develops and manages a network of elected local leaders and their teams, supporting our members to share policy expertise and best practice, and convening them to advocate for greater local action on climate and clean air.
  • Lead UK100’s membership pledge programme that secures leaders’ commitment to ambitious action towards Net Zero climate emissions - and develop support for them to deliver against it, with regular meetings, communications and research.
  • Manage two UK100 Political Advisors to develop and deliver effective engagement across the political spectrum at local and national level, maintaining a voice for local government in the climate conversation.
  • Manage UK100’s Countryside Climate Network of Local Leaders
  • Map and implement actions that enable countryside and rural issues to be appropriately represented in UK100’s communications, advocacy and wider work.
  • Manage a “Local Power In Action” Programme Manager (to be recruited) that will oversee a programme of work to provide tailored support for Local Authorities wanting to drive substantial, tangible progress towards Net Zero and clean air.
  • Work with UK100’s communications team to deliver a programme of communication that supports and engages UK100’s membership
  • Support the development of UK100’s CRM database
  • Manage impactful projects: to time, on budget and that meet agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Ensuring UK100 is effective and successful by providing strategic input as part of the Senior Leadership team
  • Represent UK100 at meetings and public events to promote ambitious action to tackle air pollution and the Climate Emergency from Local Authorities, national Government and business.

    Role overview

    To support the development and delivery of UK100’s operations by providing key
    administrative and business support, including email and diary management, to the
    Director and Policy Director and playing a vital role in communicating with UK100’s
    external contacts. This role is an excellent entry point to the environmental sector.

    UK100 is a not for profit environmental organisation which achieved outstanding growth last year. This year UK100 aims to achieve just as much. UK100 also incorporates an equal opportunities mission, whereby it values the voices of each of its employees in order to progress in a collaborative, innovative and well balanced way.


    Key responsibilities

    • Coordinate executive communications, including taking calls, responding to emails and interfacing with external contacts
    • Manage the diary and travel arrangements for UK100’s Director and UK100’s Policy Director
    • Support the company secretary to the management and delivery of UK100 Board and Advisory Council meetings and actions
    • Manage general email enquiries to UK100
    • Drafting emails / letters to government officials
    • Perform the role of lead contact for UK100 with office management (when we return to office working)
    • Support the delivery of UK100 involvement in events and meetings as appropriate - including at party political conferences
    • Assist UK100 staff in arranging meetings
    • Prepare meeting agendas, perform research for meetings, and take minutes during meetings

      Role overview

      To engage with parliamentarians and local government leaders (including Metro mayors) to continue the broadening and deepening of the cross-party appeal of UK100’s network
      of local leaders, and to deliver political influencing strategies that put the voice of local
      leaders at the forefront of advocacy for ambitious action on Net Zero.


      In the role you’ll be providing and maintaining high quality political analysis that supports close working with our network of local government leaders to inform and influence political decisions on Net Zero that will have impact for generations.


      We are looking for someone with strong political connections and networks, who understands government decision-making, with an instinct for aligning environmental issues with the priorities of the government of the day.


      Key responsibilities

      • To provide and maintain high quality political analysis as required for UK100 and our membership of local government leaders and their officers on issues relating to local authorities and climate, clean energy and clean air.
      • Developing an understanding of the climate, clean energy and clean air ambitions and commitments of local government leaders, particularly in politically significant marginal constituencies often underrepresented in the climate conversation.
      • To build and maintain strong relationships with local and national politicians across the political spectrum to support the communication of priorities needed to enable ambitious local action on Net Zero.
      • To inform and shape the development of UK100’s wider engagement programme with Parliamentarians.

        Role overview

        To manage the design, delivery and evaluation of UK100's ambitious policy and research programme that increases ambitious action by national, regional and local government and ensure that local leaders are placed at the heart of the UK’s Net Zero climate action plans.

        In the role you’ll be working with others in UK100 to deliver an ambitious programme that manages research, produces briefings, communicates best practice, responds to consultations and collaborates with stakeholders to support ambitious local action on Net Zero.


        Key responsibilities

        Policy

        • Lead on policy development, and work with others in UK100 to implement a strate
        • that supports local leaders to take ambitious action to tackle the climate emergency and
        • air pollution.
        • Lead policy development and consultation activities, including providing evidence and
        • insight to support the development of national and local government policy and
        • regulation, production of policy reports, drawing on relevant data and evidence about
        • good practice and asks of the UK Government from Mayors and local leaders.

        Research

        • Manage UK100’s research programme of reports and briefings, ensuring that resear
